Experiences form our truth.
Truth is found in the events that shape our lives and our beliefs. My own experiences—as a young adult on public assistance, as the wife and widow of a police officer, as a single parent, as a woman—are the motivations that fuel my work. When we share our experiences with others, especially the difficult ones, we use our truth to connect with and shape the broader conversations that can lead to political change.
